All central universities in India, including Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Jamia Millia Islamia, require students to take the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) Common University Entrance Test (CUET) before they may enroll in undergraduate programmes.
The CUET is required of all students who plan to attend a central institution as an undergraduate. Admission will be based on CUET scores, but board scores will also be required.
In order to get ready to take the CUET 2022 exam, students should check out the National Testing Agency’s requirements for undergraduate admissions. Under CUET Eligibility, some exceptions are made for individuals who fall into the SC/ST, OBC, or PwD categories. The CUET Exam pattern specifies that all questions will be multiple-choice (MCQs). There are five points for each answer.
CUET Domain Subject Selection Sections: How Do I Select Them?
The maximum number of tests that can be taken by a candidate is nine. Two languages from Section IA, six Domain Subjects from Section II, and three general tests from Section III are permitted Or Section IA and Section IB together can have a maximum of 03(Three) languages, a maximum of 05(Five) domain subjects, and a maximum of 1 general test from Section I.
Points to Consider When Choosing a CUET Domain Subject
There are a few considerations that candidates should keep in mind when making their CUET Domain Subject selection. Candidates must check with their selected university’s admissions requirements before selecting Languages/domain-specific Subjects/and General Tests.
For example, certain Domain-Specific Subjects are transdisciplinary in nature. Each of these subjects will have two sections, with Section A being a requirement for everyone.
Depending on the requirements of the program or university to which an applicant is applying, an applicant may choose one or more Subsections from Section B Selecting Languages, domain-specific subjects, or general tests that don’t meet university standards can result in a student being denied admission.
Selecting CUET’s domain subjects
The official announcement states that students believe the CUET will make it more difficult for them to apply for streams other than the ones they now study in class 12th. If they don’t take 12th-grade classes, students think they’ll be unable to progress in subjects they’re not interested in.
A number of students have taken advantage of social media to raise awareness about these concerns. Because each university has established its own standards in accordance with the authorized framework, the situation varies from one to the next. When it comes to CUET admissions, the University of Delhi sets the standard that candidates must have passed Class 12 in order to be eligible, whereas other universities may not adhere to this. As a result, candidates should double-check the list of their recommended schools before applying.
CUET UG Counseling in 2022
It has been determined that this year, instead of conducting a common counseling session, the NTA and UGC will furnish the scores on which merit lists would be based. CUET and merit lists will be used by universities to choose students for various courses. Most colleges will use the number of applications and CUET 2022 scores to create merit lists.
Despite the fact that the test does not assign any weightage to Class 12 grades, a participating university may set it as a minimum admission requirement. According to Jamia Millia Islamia University, a minimum requirement for admission is a Class 12 or equivalent exam score of 50 percent or above on an overall average of the student’s best five subjects, or in the relevant subject matter itself.
It is also understood that the CUET would not interfere with the reservation rules of any of the central universities in which it operates. If all universities accept CUET scores, this exam will not impact the individual admission criteria that each university uses. For example, the institution will retain control over seat reservations and counseling procedures, according to Kumar.
Many colleges connected with Delhi University, including as Jamia Millia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University, and Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, reserve seats for members of the minority group. If you’re thinking of applying to one of these schools, make sure you review the requirements first.
The universities will have to include a practical exam in addition to CUET scores for admission to performing arts courses like theatre, music, and art.
